Alchemilla sericata ‘Gold Strike’ is a particularly striking form of Lady’s Mantle, forming a compact mound of softly hairy, grey-green leaves with deeply lobed, toothed margins. Its loose sprays of tiny flowers are a richer, more distinctly yellow than the familiar lime-green of other Alchemilla — a beautiful contrast against the fresh foliage.
Tough and reliable, it makes excellent ground cover and is a fine choice for underplanting shrubs and roses. Like all Alchemilla, it combines beautifully with deep purples, blues and pinks — try it with Tulipa ‘Queen of the Night’ and Iris sibirica for a long-flowering combination. It forms tidy clumps and is tolerant of most growing conditions.
