Anaphalis triplinervis is grown both for its pretty, papery white flowers and its wonderful silver-grey, hairy foliage — so useful as a foil for other plants in the border. As with many silver-leaved plants, the foliage signals a preference for a sunny spot.
Its tolerance of quite poor soils and ability to form good-looking clumps despite them makes it ideal for a gravel garden or the front of a sunny, well-drained border. It combines beautifully with blues and yellows, and with purple foliage.
