Artemisia lactiflora Guizhou Group is a striking tall perennial valued for both its foliage and flowers. The basal clump of deeply divided leaves emerges with a rich purple hue in spring before darkening to deep green as the season progresses. In late summer, tall, branching stems carry elegant plumes of small, creamy-white flowers with a gentle fragrance.
A woodland plant at heart, it performs best in a partly shaded border with reasonable, moisture-retentive soil. Its height and dark foliage make it a dramatic backdrop for lighter-coloured companions, and it combines beautifully with late-season grasses and pale-flowered perennials.
