Sought after for its neat mounds of filigree foliage and arching plumes of delicate creamy-white flowers in early summer. Once flowering is over, leave the seedheads in place — they add structural interest, and as autumn approaches both they and the foliage turn to vivid oranges and reds.
Undemanding to grow, it is perfect for adding texture and lightness to the front of an informal border. It needs a moisture-retentive soil in a sunny or partially shaded position to perform at its best.
