Ever so pretty and dainty, Aster amellus 'Dark Pink' puts on a fantastic display from late August into October of single, deep pink daisy flowers, each with fine narrow petals circling a golden-yellow centre. Similar in scale and form to 'Rosa Erfüllung', its darker hue combines brilliantly with other jewel colours of the autumn palette — golden yellows, pale pinks and purples.
Tough and hardy, this aster has been bred for improved mildew resistance and is also very free-flowering, attracting bees and other pollinators in their droves — a good choice for a wildlife garden or meadow. Perfect for the front to middle of a sunny border, plant it with fine ornamental grasses and Hesperantha for an interesting combination of colour and texture. It thrives in fertile soil that is moist but free-draining.
