Astilbe 'Hennie Graafland' (_simplicifolia_ hybrid)

A compact, neat Astilbe bearing fluffy, feather-like plumes of delicate pale pink above very finely divided foliage — bronze-tinted on emergence, deepening to dark green as the leaves mature. Attractively scented, ‘Hennie Graafland’ is at its best in midsummer.

Plant beside a pond to enjoy its floriferous reflection and the ornamental dark bronze seed heads that follow, or use it in a bog garden. It needs a moisture-retentive soil in sun or part shade, and is particularly happy on heavy clay soils.
