A good, rich ruby form of masterwort, Astrantia major 'Abbey Road' produces numerous medium-sized blooms per blackish flower stem.
A strong-growing plant, it produces good-sized clumps, especially in moisture-retentive or heavier soil in partial shade or sun. It makes delicious combinations with other jewel colours, singing out against oranges, purples and lime greens. Versatile and long-flowering, it also cuts and dries well for flower arrangements.
