An elegant and hardy deciduous fern, for part to full shade on moist but well-drained soil, so the addition of humus-rich, well-rotted compost before planting is always welcome. Happiest in neutral to acid conditions it will tolerate slightly more alkaline soil.
Ideal for shady areas that are a little mossy or beneath deciduous trees or shrubs. This fern is bright lime-green when it emerges each spring and darkens to mid-green in part-shady spots.
It creates a dense clump of finely cut, arching, glossy fronds which are most attractive.
A great way to add structure and softness to a shady spot, this tough, low maintenance plant provides a good backdrop for, shade-loving flowers such as Geranium Patricia, Gillenia, Geranium psilostemon, Helleborus and Silene fimbriata to name but a few.
