This is a hardy perennial that thrives in moist, but well-drained soil in full sun. Beloved of bees and other pollinating insects, it produces masses of pink flower spikes from late summer into autumn, which sway in the breeze. The lance shaped foliage is deep green - in mild winters it remains evergreen.
This is a low maintenance plant that forms a dense mat so is idea for supressing weeds, the roots can be divided every few years. Be sure to add well-rotted compost to the soil before planting, this will help the plant to establish and help to keep the soil moist. The stems make great cut flower and are good for adding dots of colour and structure to you flower arrangements. Water during very dry spells and while the roots are establishing.
