Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Firetail'

Small red tubular flowers cluster into vivid crimson spikes from summer through to early autumn. Commonly known as Red Bistort, this clump-forming herbaceous perennial brings bold structure to borders and flower beds, with large heart-shaped leaves and prominent veins that hold their presence long after flowering.

'Firetail' is happiest in sun or partial shade and thrives in moisture-retentive soils — making it an ideal choice for planting along streams, around pond edges or in boggy situations. Once flowering is over, simply cut back the spent spikes to keep the plant tidy.
