Briza media — Quaking Grass — produces masses of delicate, nodding, oat-like flower heads on slender stems that tremble in the slightest breeze, creating wonderful texture and movement. The grass-like foliage forms a low mound beneath the dancing flower heads. A prolific self-seeder, so allow space for it to naturalise or deadhead after flowering to keep it in check.
A classic and beautiful grass for spot planting in herbaceous or wildflower borders, and an excellent cut or dried flower. The soft rustling of the seed heads also makes it a natural choice for a sensory garden.
