This is a mound-forming perennial with silvery-green lance-shaped leaves which create the perfect backdrop for its striking pink cornflower flowers each with a dark pink centre.
C.m 'Joyce' spreads more slowly than other forms of Centaurea montana which can become a little too invasive when you only have a small space to fill. In order for it to thrive plant it in the full sun in any reasonable soil.
A fantastic plant for the front of a border, it is the perfect choice for relaxed 'Cottage Garden' style planting schemes. Deadhead to prolong flowering. When plants start to look untidy cut the whole plant back to encourage fresh foliage growth.
