A striking form of perennial Cornflower, Centaurea montana 'Purple' bears stunning purple cornflowers with tubular petals atop upright stems from late spring into summer, above grey-green, lance-shaped leaves.
Best in full sun to partial shade in free-draining soil, it is also tolerant of salty conditions, making it a great choice for coastal gardens. The flowers cut well for floral arrangements, and after flowering, cutting the plant back hard will encourage fresh foliage and a second flush of bloom.
