Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Commonly known as alpine scabious, this tall perennial has dark green leaves divided into opposite pairs of leaflets along the stem. Soft yellow, scabious-like flowers appear in summer, followed by attractive globe-shaped seedheads.
Grow in a sunny position in well-drained soil. It is ideal for the middle or back of a border and is particularly attractive to butterflies and other pollinators. Short-lived but self-seeding, it is well suited to wildflower, prairie and cottage garden schemes where it will naturalise happily.
