The jewel-bright colour combination of this low-spreading herbaceous perennial is quite striking — vivid blue flowers produced from late summer into autumn, highlighted by red stems and green oval leaves that take on fiery autumnal tints as the season progresses.
Very versatile, it makes beautiful, weed-smothering ground cover and is ideal for the front of a border or planted en masse. Its slightly lax habit and preference for moderately fertile, free-draining soil also make it an excellent choice for adding late-season colour to a planter or raised bed, helping to soften edges. Thrives in full sun but tolerates partial shade.
