Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
This woody-based perennial is well known for its large, single, bright pink daisy-like flowers that can reach 6cm across. Chrysanthemum 'Clara Curtis' bears them in profusion in late summer to autumn, when the days shorten and the sun sinks just low enough to create that beautiful golden light not seen at any other time of year.
Best in a bright spot in moist but well-drained soil, it has lobed grey-green leaves that are mostly obscured by the sheer number of flowers in autumn. Loved by bees, this tall specimen should be protected from strong winds to avoid the need for staking.
When flowering finishes, cut the plant back to approximately 10cm. This will ensure a strong, bushy plant for the following year and protect any new shoots emerging from the base.
Potential skin allergen — wear gloves when handling.
