Cirsium heterophyllum

Lilac pink thistle-like flowers appear during spring and summer. The leaf shape varies on the plant - the leaves on the stems are more divided than the lance-shaped leaves which form a basal rosette. Cirsium heterophyllum  is a spineless thistle and has a clump-forming, vigorously spreading habit, this is a plant that needs plenty of space.

Full sun or part shade is the perfect situation for this perennial. Moist soils are preferable but this plant will cope with dryer conditions. Bees go mad for it making it ideal for a wildlife garden or for attracting bees to your borders.
