Commonly known as sea kale, Crambe maritima is a British native perennial that produces sweetly scented white flowers in frothy clusters on stout stems in summer. This tough, clump-forming plant has large, grey-green lobed leaves with a wavy margin.
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil. It is particularly well suited to seaside gardens and coastal borders, where its salt tolerance is a real asset. It also works well in wildlife gardens and as a cut flower.
