Another graceful selection from the Dahlia Bishop Series, 'Bishop of York' strikingly combines clear yellow single flowers, each with a distinctive red and yellow centre, with lush deep bronze-green foliage.
Producing masses of flowers from late summer until stopped by the first hard frosts of autumn, it is a great choice for a cutting garden as picking encourages further blooms. It also looks stunning planted in swathes through a mixed border, bringing a definite wow to a hot planting scheme or sunny container, its nectar-rich blooms attracting bees and butterflies in their droves. It thrives in full sun in humus-rich, free-draining soil. In colder areas, lift, dry, and store tubers frost-free once autumn frosts have blackened the foliage. In milder areas, tubers can be left in the ground with the crown protected by a mulch.
