Dahlia 'Shandy'

A semi-cactus cultivar, Dahlia ‘Shandy’ bears flowerheads of tawny orange petals tinged rose-pink, carried on reddish-brown stems above leafy mid-green foliage. Less showy than more flamboyant dahlias, it combines beautifully with pinks, purples and browns — perfect at the front of a border in an informal planting scheme. It also cuts extremely well for arrangements.

Plant in well-drained, humus-enriched soil in full sun. In colder areas, lift, dry and store tubers frost-free once foliage has been blackened by autumn frosts. In milder areas, tubers can be left in the ground if the crown is protected with a mulch.
