Coral-red bell flowers swing gently from slender arching stems over tufted grass-like foliage. Its common names — fairy bells, wand flower and fiery wandflower — speak beautifully to the delicacy of this shorter Dierama, but it is a tough customer too.
Hailing from South Africa, this hard-to-find perennial looks wonderful planted in large drifts, particularly overhanging water where its dainty reflection can be enjoyed. Equally at home in a border or container, it dislikes drying out in summer or becoming waterlogged in winter. Grow in any fertile, moist but free-draining soil in full sun or part shade.
