Dierama pulcherrimum

Tall, elegant wand-like stems gently bend under the weight of dangling bright reddish purple flowers above clumps of mid green grassy foliage. Flowering from June to August, it works particularly well as either a statement plant in a gravel garden or for adding a subtle glinting layer to the middle of a border.  

Water it well during early summer to encourage the plant to increase in size. It performs best in full sun in a humus-rich, free draining soil that retains some moisture.  Avoid exposure to excessive winter wet.
