Dierama pulcherrimum 'Blackbird'

‘Blackbird’ is a striking evergreen perennial bearing large, deep claret-purple bell-shaped flowers carried in elegant sprays on fine, arching stems that sway gracefully in the breeze from July through to September. The tall, strap-shaped leaves provide a strong vertical presence throughout the year.

Like all Dierama, it rewards patience — slow to establish but long-lived and increasingly impressive with age. Grow in full sun in free-draining soil; it is well suited to sunny borders and gravel gardens where the arching stems can be appreciated at their best.
