Commonly known as the white foxglove, this elegant plant produces willowy spires of pure white thimble-like flowers that hang to one side.  Its foliage is soft and hairy with the stems rising from basal rosettes.

Much beloved and used by Gertrude Jekyll in her white garden planting schemes, it is a fantastic plant for illuminating, lightening and weaving through borders.  As you would expect it works equally well in dappled woodland settings.  Beneficial insects especially the bees are crazy about them. This Digitalis thrives in a rich soil in part shade, but can tolerate more sun.

All parts are poisonous.
