Commonly known as Butterfly Flag, Diplarrena moraea is a fragrant perennial from south-east Australia bearing delicate flowerheads of three pure white outer petals and three smaller inner petals tinted bright yellow with purple edges, over green, grass-like foliage.
We think it deserves to be far better known in the UK. It makes a perfect container, front-of-border or gravel garden plant where its scent can be enjoyed to the full. It thrives in a sunny location in acid to neutral, well-drained but moisture-retentive soil enriched with humus.
