This elegant woodlander, Disporum longistylum 'Night Heron', was introduced by the American plantsman Dan Hinkley. Tall, upright, branching, bamboo-like stems gently curve at their tips, bearing creamy-green to white, hanging, bell-shaped flowers in spring.
Best grown in humus-rich soil in partial shade, its evergreen purple-bronze foliage and beautiful architectural form make it a worthy specimen plant for a container in a semi-shaded location.
