Flowering from June to September, ‘Tequila Sunrise’ is a star performer that delivers drama alongside real wildlife value. Each sturdy upright stem produces large, open daisy-like flowers with a dark reddish-brown central cone and bi-colour petals — orange-red at the base, brightening to yellow at the tips.
Compact and clump-forming, it suits sunny borders and containers alike. Plant in fertile soil enriched with well-rotted compost and deadhead regularly to keep the blooms coming. The flowers are a magnet for pollinators, providing nectar and pollen throughout summer, while the seed heads offer food for birds over winter. A favourite with florists too — the blooms add a zing of summer heat to any cut flower bouquet.
