Commonly known as Barrenwort, Epimedium pubigerum produces small clusters of cream flowers held well above the emerging bright green spring foliage — a delicate and charming display in the shade garden.
The rounded, semi-evergreen leaves make this a useful ground-cover plant for shady areas. Cut away the old foliage in early spring to reveal the flowers and fresh new leaves as they emerge. It thrives in moist but well-drained soil in partial or full shade.
