Commonly known as Blanket Flower, Gaillardia × grandiflora 'Kobold' is a compact dwarf form producing a long succession of bold daisy flowers with deep red petals tipped with yellow around a rich mahogany centre. It flowers prolifically through summer and into autumn, creating a vivid riot of colour at the front of the border.
Best grown in fertile, moisture-retentive soil in full sun. Although often treated as a half-hardy annual, it is reliably hardy throughout the UK, tolerating temperatures down to -15°C (H5). Its compact size also makes it an excellent choice for containers and gravel gardens.
