Elegant, slender spikes of violet blue pea-like flowers gently weave above fresh lime green foliage in summer.
Resembling a more naturalistic cousin of the lupin, this Galega suits informal planting schemes, combining beautifully with ornamental grasses like Miscanthus or meadow planting, adding gentle and slightly random vertical punctuation. Grown as an agricultural fodder crop in many Baltic countries, it also helps to fix nitrogen in the soil. Bees love it too. It may wander a bit around your garden popping up unexpectedly but can be kept in check. Hardy and unfussy, it grows in most soils except very wet in sun or partial shade.
