Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
Dainty, flat, clear lilac flowers with a distinct white eye are held in groups on narrow stems above mounds of mid-green, divided foliage. Encourage new growth by removing faded stems and leaves after flowering.
Perfect for weaving through the front of a shady border or in clumps in a woodland garden, it looks fantastic combined with starry white Galium odoratum and ferns. A Hardy's own introduction bred from a chance seedling, it is a bold colour addition to the range of shade-tolerant plants. Like other Geranium phaeum, it grows well in any fairly rich, well-drained soil but can cope with most soils if not too damp. Happy in shade or partial shade, it can also take a sunnier position.
