An abundance of semi-double, vivid scarlet-red flowers bob and weave on tall branching stems above crinkled, slightly hairy green basal leaves. This hard-to-find Geum boasts a long flowering period from May into early autumn — deadhead regularly to keep the display going.
Its knockout colour adds hot accents to the front of a cottage garden border, combining well with oranges, whites and purples such as Verbena rigida. Undemanding and adaptable, it grows well in any reasonable soil with some drainage — even clay, if improved with well-rotted organic matter.
