Sprays of nodding red buds open to reveal delicate, salmon-pink, bell-shaped flowers that slowly straighten up on short, fuzzy stems above mounds of mid-green foliage. Close to the native Geum rivale, this cultivar is far more prolific, producing masses of nodding flowers from late April to the end of June.

Very delicate looking, it is actually very tough. In its preferred conditions the foliage will clump up quickly to create weed-smothering ground cover — always a useful asset. Ideal for planting in large groups in lightly shaded woodland or adjacent to water, its scale also suits a cottage garden setting. 'Barbra Lawton' prefers any reasonable, fertile, moisture-retentive soil in full sun to partial shade.
