‘Seabrook’s Lavender’ has large lavender-coloured flowers with gorgeous deep pink eyes, produced in a profusion of generous flower heads throughout summer. Unlike more familiar verbenas, this Glandularia is reliably hardy and will survive all but the harshest of winters — a short-lived perennial that more than earns its place.
Happy in most well-drained soils in full sun or partial shade, it is well suited to the front of beds and borders or gravel gardens.
We launched Glandularia ‘Seabrook’s Lavender’ at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2007. It began as a chance seedling discovered by gardening correspondent Peter Seabrook in his own garden, which he trialled and overwintered outdoors for seven years before introducing it — proof, if any were needed, of its hardiness.
