Commonly known as Heart-leaved Globe Daisy, Globularia cordifolia produces dainty, pale lavender-blue spherical flowerheads of feathery petals over a carpet of glossy, evergreen leaves.
Plant this ankle-high alpine where it can be best appreciated — in a rock or gravel garden, or combined with other alpines in a raised trough. It is tough and easy to grow, asking only for neutral to alkaline, very free-draining soil in full sun, and protection from excessive winter dampness. A little gem.
