Not always easy to find, Hemerocallis 'Irish Elf' is well worth seeking out. Erect stems bear small, yellow, cornet-shaped flowers held high over a clump of arching, grass-like green foliage in mid-summer. As with all daylilies, each flower lasts just one day — but with many stems each carrying multiple buds, the plant puts on a generous show over a long period.
Ideal for south-facing borders, it flourishes in sunny situations in moderately good, moisture-retentive soil, and will also tolerate partial shade. A reliable, low-maintenance perennial that earns its place in any cottage or informal garden.
