Hosta 'Purple Heart'

Popular with designers and gardeners alike, for the way that the dark maroon colour of this Hosta's stems gently leaches into the base of the lush mid-green leaves, 'Purple Heart' also puts on a long-lasting summer display of pale purple flowers.

Plant it where you can admire its architectural form best.  It looks stunning in groups silhouetted in a statement planter, helping to lift more shady areas of the garden, or combine it with woodland ferns for an interesting textural composition.  It thrives in a damp, fertile soil in partial or light dappled shade.
