Hylotelephium ‘Carl’ is a superb late-season perennial bearing gently domed heads of vivid pink, star-like flowers on sturdy stems above fleshy, grey-green foliage. Prolific and reliable, its nectar-rich blooms are much beloved by bees and butterflies from late summer through into autumn.
Its intense colour packs a real punch when planted in groups at the front of a sunny border, or in containers around a seating area. Very versatile, its preference for dry, reasonably fertile soil makes it an excellent choice for a gravel garden or areas subject to occasional drought. If plants tend to flop, cut stems back by half in late May for a sturdier habit. Thrives in full sun in free-draining, fairly fertile soil.
