Iris 'Tropic Night' is a clump-forming, rhizomatous Siberian iris with narrow, bright green, grass-like foliage. Tall, erect stems bear deep blue flowers with a yellow-veined throat in early summer.
Happy in any reasonably good, moisture-retentive yet free-draining soil in sun or partial shade. Tolerant of salt spray, it suits coastal locations well, and will also thrive beside streams or ponds as long as the soil does not become waterlogged. Left in place, the old flower stems provide attractive winter interest.
All parts of this plant are toxic.
