Lythrum virgatum 'Dropmore Purple'

‘Dropmore Purple’ is a tall, elegant wand loosestrife, sending up slender erect stems clothed in narrow, hairless mid-green leaves and topped with loose open spikes of rich reddish-purple flowers. The season is a long one — from summer right through to autumn — making it a valuable late-season plant for pollinators, particularly bees and butterflies.

It thrives in moist soils and will even tolerate boggy conditions, making it an excellent choice for a waterside planting, a rain garden or a reliably damp border. Plant in sun or partial shade.
