Maianthemum stellatum

A colonising and creeping perennial, with each individual plant bearing clusters of sweetly scented, creamy white star-like flowers at the end of a single stem that zig zags between the alternate, leathery, oval leaves.

Commonly known as 'Starry False Soloman's Seal', this tough but delicate looking plant is an ideal candidate for a woodland scheme and looks lovely planted in drifts, helping to brighten up more shady areas. Its scale and naturalistic form also suits smaller informal gardens, where it combines well with ferns and Lamprocapnos varieties. It thrives in a humus rich, fairy fertile, moist soil with some drainage in partial to full shade.
