Melittis melissophyllum 'Cyclamenroze'

Large, white trumpet-like flowers with purple veins and cyclamen pink lower lips, are borne in whorls at the junctions of the dark green slightly hairy leaves and sturdy stems. The unusual colour adds real warmth and depth to a shady area throughout May and June.

It's leathery foliage makes an excellent background for other plants after the flowers have finished. Ideal for mass planting in dappled woodland settings or lighting up the edge of a shady path, its scale also suits smaller, more informal wildlife gardens. This rather special plant should be more widely grown. It performs best in any fertile, humus rich soil in part shade.
