Molinia caerulea subsp. caerulea 'Heidezwerg'

A soft herbaceous grass with tall straight stems topped with purple tinted flowers heads over mid green foliage from summer to autumn. An elegant and gently textured plant ideal for the front or middle of the border where it invites you to run your fingertips over the swaying stems. Cut down spent stems and old foliage in the spring as the new growth emerges. 

The airy looks of this plant work well with late summer perennials such as Salvia, Penstemon, Helianthus and other tall members of the Asteraceae family. As the sun dips lower in the sky in the autumn and the air appears clear and crisp, the stems can take on a golden hue.
