Upright stems carrying soft purple-pink flowers like jesters’ hats, with narrow petals and purple bracts above greenish-purple spear-shaped leaves. Aromatic foliage. This much-loved Bergamot has a long flowering season, blooming from July right into autumn and proving irresistible to bees and other pollinators.
A classic ingredient of a cottage garden or herbaceous border, it adds soft colour, structure and texture to the middle tier. It thrives in any humus-rich, fairly fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
