Sturdy stems packed with concentric circles of large, gently arching white tubular flowers that turn pink then crimson with age, rising above a rosette of thistle-like, supple, glossy foliage. The evergreen leaves carry a spicy citrus scent. This elegant plant flowers from July through August.
Its architectural form suits a gravel, coastal, or contemporary setting, while the flowers are equally at home in a cottage garden. Native to the Himalayas, it self-seeds prolifically. It thrives in very well-drained, thin soil in full sun. Protect from excessive winter moisture.
