Plants are dispatched in growing condition and may not be in full flower. If too tall to pack safely, we may cut them back — this helps them establish more quickly. Read our Mail Order FAQs.
A compact, bushy perennial for full sun or partial shade and free-draining soil. Once established it is relatively drought-tolerant and highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Deer, however, find it utterly uninteresting and will leave it alone.
With a long flowering season from summer through to early autumn, it pays to remove spent flower stems down to the next pair of leaves to encourage more flowers and delay seed production.
Provided it is grown in soil that drains freely year-round, this plant is fully hardy in the UK.
Ideal for pots and containers, and equally useful at the front of beds and borders, in wildlife gardens, and in gravel schemes. An excellent companion to lower-growing Salvia, Achillea, Echinacea, Gaillardia, Festuca, Coreopsis, and Penstemon, to name but a few.
