Nepeta racemosa 'Snowflake'

'Snowflake' is a low-growing, clump-forming catmint that earns its place at the front of a border or along a path edge. Pure white flowers are held in airy sprays above soft, grey-green aromatic foliage — a cooler, crisper combination than the familiar lavender-blue of the genus, and one that works particularly well alongside silver-leaved plants or as a contrast to deeper purples and pinks.

Its compact habit makes it equally at home in a container, and it has a pleasing tendency to trail gently over the sides of a pot or low wall. Give it free-draining soil in sun or partial shade, and it will reward you with a generous flush of flowers through summer. After flowering, a good trim back will keep the clump tidy and often encourages a second flush later in the season.
