Patrinia scabiosifolia

If you like the lightness and airiness of Verbena bonariensis, Patrinia scabiosifolia is one for your list.  Like Verbena it produces clusters of sulphur yellow flowers, held high on long, airy stems, above a neat base of green foliage.  Flowering from late summer into autumn it makes an attractive filler in any cottage or informal planting scheme.  It is easy to grow too in any reasonable soil in a sheltered spot in either sun or partial shade.

Ideal for the back of a mixed border, it combines brilliantly with purples, reds and burnt oranges. Another great plant for cut floral display, its long stems add height to any arrangement. Perfect for bees, butterflies and other pollinators too.
