Penstemon 'Schoenholzeri'

Penstemon 'Schoenholzeri', otherwise known as Penstemon 'Firebird', is a clump-forming semi-evergreen perennial. Narrow green lance-shaped foliage covers the stems beneath the wonderful racemes of crimson-red tubular flowers which appear throughout summer. 

Keep deadheading as the flowers fade to encourage more blooms. Happy to grow in any fertile, moisture retentive, free-draining soil, in sun or partial shade. Do not be tempted to cut this perennial down before the winter, leave the top growth to protect it. In spring, after the last frosts have passed, cut the plant back hard.
