Physostegia virginiana ‘Rose Queen’

Rhizomatous, herbaceous perennial with upright stems topped with spires of tubular rose flowers in summer and autumn (July to September). Great in sun or part shade it can be lifted and split when dormant.

This plant prefers reasonable, moist but free-draining soil. A perfect addition to any cottage garden scheme and would also do well planted between roses. 

A common nickname for this is ‘The Obedient Plant’, because the flower heads can be moved from side to side and will mostly stay where they are placed, making it an excellent choice for cut flower gardens.
